The following is stuff we have to say just to avoid any misunderstandings. It is mostly common sense, but please read through it anyway. To quote a famous homeschooler, "There is no "SBHN." You can't sue "SBHN," except in virtual reality. You can't complain to "SBHN" because there is no SBHN representative or spokesperson. If you have an issue with a family or a group of families, your issue is with them, not with "SBHN." "
To elaborate:
SBHN is a network, not an organization.
Each event listed on this web site, the calendar, the loops or the newsletter is organized by an individual or an organization offering activities for homeschoolers. Rules and criteria for attending will be set by each host. Since SBHN doesn't exist as an organization, the group cannot be held responsible for any events including park days and loop discussions.
In the interest of remaining an inclusive network, the majority of families in the network ask that all events be open to any homeschooler without requiring membership in another group, school or organization. We also ask that any religious or political events be clearly marked so that network members understand the nature of the event before attending.
Please refrain from pressuring others to join your school or religious group or anything else for that matter. Please apply the same restraint in marketing items or services you sell.
If you are interested in joining an event, please pay attention to RSVP requests, and if you sign up for an event, please, please attend and please follow the rules set by the host. Please review our field trip guide often for other reminders.
Homeschool information provided on this site or in any SBHN forum, including personal emails from network members, is the opinion of the volunteers who offer it. Unless otherwise stated, these volunteers are not lawyers or legal experts.
Finally, please remember that when you use the name SBHN, you suggest that you are representing our entire network of families. Use this name to identify yourself only if it is something that would not alienate those families.
