The South Bay Homeschool Network is a support group for families who are homeschooling their children in or around the South Bay area of Los Angeles. We are not a religious organization, and we are not a school. We don't have membership dues or contracts you must sign to join.
Our goal is to create an environment where homeschoolers can meet, exchange ideas, and build relationships.
We offer many different ways to connect with other homeschoolers. You may attend park days listed on our calendar, join our email loops and/or attend classes, field trips and activities offered on our newsletter.
Within our network there are families with many different spiritual and political views. There are independent homeschoolers and families who have joined different public and private school programs. We are a very diverse group. Everyone is welcome.
To understand how SBHN functions, please read our Fine Print Page
and this article from Home Education Magazine "Our Non-directed Support Organization"
SBHN EMAIL LOOPS
There are several email loops for homeschoolers in the South Bay.
SBHN-Newsletter loop is an announcement only loop.
Our newsletter is posted online, but this loop may be used for occasional announcements.
You cannot respond to this loop.
SBHN-Talk loop
is an online discussion loop for South Bay homeschoolers.
Discussion is restricted to topics relevant to homeschooling and
family life in the South Bay.
SBHN-PreTween Loop
SBHN-PublicSpeakers Loop
SBHN-Friends Loop
These loops are exclusively for families homeschooling or considering
homeschooling their children.
We do not allow marketing or advertising of any kind.
SBHN Double Digits Loop
This is an email loop for homeschooling parents in the South Bay with children aged 10 and up.
Members of this group can chat, plan, or lurk. Anyone is welcome to post ideas and activities for
events that will interest children in this age range. Homeschoolers only.
This is an email loop for homeschooling parents in the South Bay with
children aged 6-10 (or children whose interests lie in the age range
of 7-9). Members of this group can chat, plan, or lurk. Anyone is
welcome to post ideas and activities for events that will interest
children in this age range.
This group's goal is to develop the public speaking skills of homeschoolers aged 10 and up
(though I won't reject serious-minded younger ones). Though mentored by adults, the meetings
are run by the kids themselves. Meetings are held two times per month in the South Bay, and
the overall approach is similar to that of Toastmasters Int'l. Homeschoolers only.
This is a loop for families homeschooling their own children who are currently attending
park days on a regular basis.
