Good for getting inside the numbers, applied skills (Diane F.)

The Number Devil by Hans Enzesbeger (tr. from German). Fiction book, reads like an adventure/suspense novel, while introducing mathematical concepts in practical terms. Level: 9+, but even younger kids will enjoy the story.

Two Times Two Equals Boo! by Loreen Leedy (and any other books by Loreen Leedy). Funny spooky stories that illustrate multiplication.

I Love Math CD ROM from Dorling Kindersly. Good CDs for math games are available for K-3, and algebra, but hard to find for in between.

The Logical Journey of the Zoombinis (Julie) and Yoiks (Tamah) from Broderbund. Very entertaining games using logic to solve puzzles. Different levels of difficulty.
